For the 3rd year in a row, the Chicago Cubs have advanced to the NLCS and will take on the Dodgers in a best of 7 series starting Saturday. Now, I will have a couple pieces coming out in the next day or so regarding some bullpen issues, slumping batters, and questionable lineups, but first, let’s celebrate.
First off, this marks the first time in franchise history that the Cubs have won a playoff series 3 years in a row. This series was filled with drama, story lines, and tight games, so it certainly feels good to get the win and move on.
Wade Davis was incredible. A 7 out save, he used every drop he had in the tank, and then some. It looked like he was done in the 8th, but he gutted out the 9th and got the Cubs the win. It was such a trying game, having to claw out of a 4-1 hole early, taking the lead, and then having to cling to it while the Nats chipped away. Addy had a great night at the plate, so did Willy, and they helped carry some of the other guys that are struggling like Javy and Heyward. This team picks each their up, and that’s exactly what you have to do in the playoffs.
Sorry for this being sloppy, and probably disorganized, it’s very late and I am still on edge. As I said, look for a bullpen piece probably Friday some time, and another one about some iffy lineup decisions. The Cubs will faceoff with the Dodgers in game one on Saturday at 7:00 pm CT.
