D-Backs over the Rockies. The Rockies have a solid lineup, but give me Goldy, Martinez, and Lamb any day. On top of that, the D-Backs have the better pitcher starting, and that is very important in a 1 game series
Yankees over Twins. Again, the Yankees easily have the better lineup, they easily have the better starter, and they easily have the better bullpen. Obviously it’s possible for the Twins to win, but I don’t see it happening.
Cubs vs Nationals
Cubs in 4. Call me a homer if you want, but I’ll take the Cubs lineup against the Nationals pitching staff. In addition, Dusty Baker is the Nationals manager, so that’s a big plus in favor of the Cubs. The Cubs have been hot lately, so I’m picking them to continue that hot streak and advance to the NLCS for the 3rd year in a row.
D-Backs vs Dodgers
D-Backs in 5.
Here is my first sorta big upset of the post season. I think this series goes 5, regardless of the winner, but with how the Dodgers have been struggling, I’m gonna take the Diamondbacks. Goldy is my pick for NL MVP, and I think he will carry them through the NLDS.
Red Sox vs Astros
Astros in 3.
That’s right, I’m picking a sweep. I see the Astros, and the city of Houston, rallying around the disaster that is Hurricane Harvey, and coming out to dominate the Red Sox, much like the Sox did in 2013 after the Boston Marathon bombing. The Astros will take the first 2 games by flat out having the better team, and I think the Red Sox just crumble. Doesn’t feel like the Sox year.
Yankees vs Indians
Indians in 4.
The Yankees will put up a good fight, and I think each game will be a nail biter, but ultimately, the Indians and their pitching staff is just too good. Look for each game to be low scoring, as these 2 teams both have excellent pitching staffs, but I see the Indians advancing.
D-Backs vs Cubs
D-Backs in 7
This will be another hard fought series, but the Cubs inconsistent pitching staff will come back to haunt them in the end. We could see a relatively high scoring series here, but the Diamondbacks will take it in 7.
Astros vs Indians
Astros in 6.
The Astros have a fantastic lineup to go along with a pretty good pitching staff, and I think their lineup gets the best of the Cleveland pitchers. The Indians are probably the better all around team, but I’m going to give this one to the Astros.
Astros vs Diamondbacks
Well, this isn’t the series most people are expecting, but I think it would be a fun one. Correa, Altuve, and Springer up against Goldy, Lamb, and JD Martinez, what could be better? This series could turn into a slugfest in a hurry, but don’t forget about the star pitchers each team has in Keuchel and Verlander for the Astros and Grienke and Ray for the D-Backs. I could see this going back and forth with strong momentum swings each way.
D-backs in 6. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be lucky enough to have this series go 7.
And I will take Jake Lamb as my World Series MVP. The guy can flat out hit, and I’m taking him to have his bat get hot and lead the Diamondbacks to a championship.
