The Cubs, and newly acquire closer Aroldis Chapman, start a series with the hated South Siders today. The Cubs (59-38) will travel a little bit down south to take on the White Sox (48-50) today to start off a 4 game series, in which they will play 2 games at each team’s park. The Cubs come in as 7-3 in their last 10 while the White Sox come in at 3-7.
The pitching matchups are as follows:
Monday @CWS (7:10, ABC 7)-Jake Arrieta (12-4, 2.60) vs. Miguel Gonzalez (2-5, 4.41)
Tuesday @CWS (6:10, ESPN)- Kyle Hendricks (9-6, 2.27) vs. James Shields (4-12, 4.99)
Wednesday (7:05, WGN/ESPN)- Jacob Turner (0-1, 14.73) vs Jason Hammel (9-5, 3.35)
Thursday (7:05, CSN)- Chris Sale (14-3, 3.18) vs. John Lackey (7-7, 3.79)
Let’s hope Chris Sale (pictured below) fresh off his suspension doesn’t cut us up too badly. All jokes/puns aside, it will be interesting to see how he and his teammates handle the most recent White Sox clubhouse controversy.
The controversy, for those of you unaware, was that he didn’t want to wear the White Sox throwback jerseys, and he proceeded to take a pair of scissors and cut the collars off of the shirts. In his defense, he had evidently told the front office that he did not want to wear them when he was pitching, and when he went to them with concerns of wearing them for this start, someone said something about him being traded so he may not have to wear them for long. This set him off.
Be sure to watch the game tonight on ABC-7 and follow me on twitter @Cubscoverage1 where I should be live-tweeting the game!
